Educational Resources
Marketing Resources
The following are some general resources you can use to help advertise your own private or community event.
- General 9/11 Salute Flyer. Use to provide information on what the 9/11 Salute is about.
- Fillable PDF flyer to advertise your own event. Add in time, location, and other information, and then distribute to your group.
- Photo upload flyer with QR code and social media hashtags. Great to have posted at your event for participants to scan.
- “I Saluted” stickers. Print these (Avery 22804) to distribute to participants after they have saluted.
Remembrance
Marking the moments the planes hit
At the Grand Rapids event, a bell is rung for key moments in the September 11, 2001 timeline.
- 8:46 am – Flight 11 hits the World Trade Center North Tower
- 9:03 am – Flight 175 hits the World Trade Center South Tower
- 9:37 am – Flight 77 hits the Pentagon
- 10:02 am – Flight 92 hits an empty field in Shanksville, PA
A community event
The Community Comes Together
Scouts and adults from Scouting America help plan and facilitate many of these Day of Remembrance events, but it is the community involvement that makes the biggest impact. Veterans, first responders, veterans groups, public officials, community and anyone that wants a moment of silence to remember the day are encouraged to attend. Young and old. All can take part.
