Remembrance

Marking the moments the planes hit

At the Grand Rapids event, a bell is rung for key moments in the September 11, 2001 timeline.

  • 8:46 am – Flight 11 hits the World Trade Center North Tower
  • 9:03 am – Flight 175 hits the World Trade Center South Tower
  • 9:37 am – Flight 77 hits the Pentagon
  • 10:02 am – Flight 92 hits an empty field in Shanksville, PA

A community event

The Community Comes Together

Scouts and adults from Scouting America help plan and facilitate many of these Day of Remembrance events, but it is the community involvement that makes the biggest impact.  Veterans, first responders, veterans groups, public officials, community and anyone that wants a moment of silence to remember the day are encouraged to attend.  Young and old. All can take part.
